<idAbs>L’Étude pancanadienne sur l’intégration de l’énergie éolienne (EPIEE),achevée en 2016, portait sur l’évaluation des aspects opérationnels et économiques associés à l’intégration de grandes quantités d’énergie éolienne dans le réseau électrique du Canada.
L'étude du EPIEE a généré une quantité importante de données à haute résolution à travers le Canada. Cet ensemble de données contient plus de 54 000 "cellules", chaque cellule représentant un nœud dont nous avons une grille de 2 × 2 km. Chaque cellule dispose d'une période de l'année des données de vent, de 2008 à 2010, à des intervalles de 10 minutes.
En 2017, des efforts ont été déployés pour télécharger l'ensemble de données du EPIEE à la Plateforme géospatiale fédérale (PGF), permettant à l'utilisateur de visualiser facilement la répartition géographique des ressources éoliennes du Canada et d'estimer rapidement la force de la ressource éolienne à un endroit particulier.</idAbs>
