These stations have been categorised on the basis of their power generation capacity. The threshold for this map is 0.80 MW. Hydroelectric stations have been developed where the geography and hydrography were favourable; provinces producing large quantities of hydroelectricity include Quebec, British Columbia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Manitoba and Ontario. Hydropower provides Canadian households and businesses with a clean, reliable and renewable source of electric power, converting up to 95% of available energy into electricity.
